One Kind Action 2

The next door neighbor was out of town
and mail was stacked up in her mailbox.
Without her asking me to, I placed her mail
inside her porch in a safe place, and placed
the junk mail in the recycle boxes. I called
her and told her I had done this for her. She
thanked me and said that she was on her way
back home and would in arrive in a few hours.
Oh, well. It seems a kindness. A kindness is
something we would do anyway, as the minimum
of being a human being. Ok, here, calling it
one kind action.

An ex girlfriend sent a hurtful email.

I wrote one back, but didn't send it.

I thought about it, stopped the reaction from my end,
let the pain pass.

Then I wrote her a kind email, even with a compliment.

I let her know that she was trying to help me, in her way,
and thanked her, wished her well

Salvage Habeas Corpus

Wouldn't it be a kindness to Americans and Foreigners to....salvage "Habeas Corpus"?

Think about it for awhile.

If anyone disagrees a bit too dramatically with an official they can put into jail without trial. The system of checks and balances, which kept this country truly safe, is not yet restored.

Hello people?

The freedom to worship is no longer valued, no the freedom to speak out, people, get it?

The author is writing from a sense of grief. (How do you post blogs so others can find them?) It's a private grief. And the author will hold a positive thought. Habeas Corpus is not yet restored back into Law. Not yet.

First cigarette smoking in public banned, then seat belts required by law, now this! What will happen next? (Oops...that's negative thinking!)

Who even knows about it? Who can even find this blog to read it?

I guess to learn about kindness, it's useful to observe the lack of it.

What is Habeus Corpus?

I like never take a soap box on political stuff. But this is unkind here. No one is talking about this on the internet. Maybe people don't know what Habeus Corpus is? Might we see it as a kindness?

In common law countries, habeas corpus (/'heɪbiəs 'kɔɹpəs/), Latin for "you [should] have the body", is the name of a legal instrument or writ by means of which detainees can seek release from unlawful imprisonment. A writ of habeas corpus is a court order addressed to a prison official (or other custodian) ordering that a detainee be brought to the court so it can be determined whether or not that person is imprisoned lawfully and whether or not he or she should be released from custody. The writ of habeas corpus in common law countries is an important instrument for the safeguarding of individual freedom against arbitrary state action.

Habeus Corpus, the End of Law?

The author of this blog is writing this more for himself. There is a sense of grief tonight at the end of Habeus Corpus. A law was signed today to end the freedom of Americans. Any American can be put in jail without trial, and without knowing why they were put in jail. It really does seem to come down to the mood of the President. Anyone be declared an "enemy combatant" if they are disagreeable to the President and his Advisors.

This is a HUGE loss for America, and could lead to the end of the First Amendment. That's the Amendment that allows this author to state this opinion on the blog. It hasn't lead to the loss of the First Amendment yet. At least, not in the technicalities. Freedom of Speech was only possible because of "Habeus Corpus," also know in law as the "Great Writ".

The author is from a family of proud lawyers. The author is not lawyer himself. Look at it like this. Make any vehicles in Nascar illegal, and then continue to televise Nascar. Well, there would be no vehicles, would there? The great profession of the Law, the American Bar Association, has been neutered. What will lawyers do now for thier cases? They are now like Nascar drivers without a vehicle.

The author hopes this didn't just happen. The author hopes this is just a fantasy. Before, with the terrorists, only some parts of the country were not safe. Now, without the rights to freedom, is any part of the country safe?

What is Habeus Corpus?

Ignore-

We all think we know what kindness is. Because we think we know, we form an opinion. Forming an opinion is the way we ignore things.

This ignore-ance permits us to commit atrocious acts, unawares, because we already know “what kindness is”.

Can we, for once, explore kindness for ourselves, be open to this?

This possibly leads to knowledge.

They say they want to change the world.

If just one person did this, it could catch on. It would be like Noahs Ark!

There'd be this one doing one kind action for that one, and that one for the other one, and soon kids and animals and zebras and the monkeys would be involved and out of this may evolve some consideration for others, and being as NONharmful as possible to others, kind.

Think about it for awhile.

I'm not sure if I did one kind action for anyone this week. Outside of getting paid by the hour. (Maybe setting up this blog...?)

Maybe best to post one kind action each week, instead of every day. Every day is a lot!

Got Kindness?

Some say that the Great sages over the centuries have said, in essence, that if each person did one kind action, maybe to express some gratefulness for being here, for having the privilege to have the great gift of life, just one kind action for another, whether the other person is known or not, whether the other person even knows about it or not, can be enough to "get there".

It can be hard, but...
